New Stories
Donya Aalipour, Adrian Buschmann, Alfred Bow, Ina Ebenberger, Katarina Spielmann, Nazim Ü Yilmaz, Daniel Richter
19.11-21.12.2024
Daniel Richter and his formal students shown in this exhibition initiate a global discourse on fundamental existential questions: How does individuality develop, how fluid and diverse are identities? How does man relate to nature? How is domination established? With what benefits and with what collateral damage is peaceful coexistence possible? How inclusive do we want to be as a society? What is desirable, what is true, good and beautiful?
In all these works, the effort to achieve a balance between abstract and figurative painting, the special handling of color and the examination of current social and political issues are evident.

ESHINLOKUN WASIU
1.10-31.10.2024
Eshinlokun Wasiu, born 1998, Lagos, Nigeria is a surrealist artist. In his work, he addresses societal constraints that cause people to present an inauthentic self bound by fear, guilt, despair, anxiety or the need to please.
The positioning of his silhouette-like figures, which he combines with boldly woven tape, creates a visual metaphor that represents what he calls this “universal state of being”. With his work, he wants to encourage a free way of life, free from the fear of being judged by prevailing opinions. With his shadow-like depictions, he wants to express “that all people have a shadow”, unrecognized parts of themselves.
The artist works with acrylic and charcoal paints; he takes a lot of time with the material to ensure clear lines and balance. His colored backgrounds are applied last. He paints methodically and enters into a space of deep thoughtfulness where, as he describes it, he “connects with his feelings or empathizes with the feelings of the people around me”. Once he has found the emotional truth that he is exploring, clarifying with the painting, he organically finds a representative color.
